The Ultra-Wideband Mixed Modulation System Design and Performance Analysis

Ultra-Wideband technology is a new type of wireless communication technologies. It uses relative bandwidth larger than 0.25 or absolute bandwidth larger than 500MHz pulse to transport signals. It can be at low power cost and small range transport signals faster than 100Mbit/s. IEEE 802.15.3a organization is set it at WAPN solution. Modulation is very important in UWB system. The performance of the merits has a direct impact on the effectiveness of signal reception. There are many traditional methods used in signal modulation. They are Pulse Position Modulation(PPM),Pulse Amplitude Modulation(PAM),Pulse Shape Modulation(PSM) and so on.This paper based on the analysis of traditional UWB signal modulation. That the traditional modulation didn't fully explore the narrow pulse signal modulation's potential. So, the paper designed there new mix-mode modulations. They are PP-AM,PP-SM and PP-A-SM. Its working principle is: a modulation of a signal carrying another one or two modulation information, to receive mixed modulation pulse sequence of results in the signal demodulator-related multi-demodulator, demodulator to sequence Weighted comparison, have a higher reliability of the information demodulator.First, the mix-mode modulation and demodulation system were designed and simulated. Then the traditional UWB modulation ways were contrasted with mix-mode modulation ways in different channels, and they also have been contrasted in performance. At last, the mix-mode modulation ways were tested in the UWB targeting, the result also shows the better performance in real application.
